IG Sindh Calls for Urgent Action Against Street Crime and Corruption

Urgent action is needed against street crime. By registering a case for every incident, a record of the accused is created, stated Ghulam Nabi Memon. Full action will be taken against corruption, and corrupt elements will be replaced by competent officers throughout Sindh, including Karachi.

Karachi (Crime Reporter): The task force should be immediately reinstated. If the gender report presented to IG Sindh Khayle is proven wrong, supervisory officers will be dismissed from their positions. Today, Ghulam Nabi Memon, Inspector General of Police Sindh, took charge and presided over the first high-level video conference at the Central Police Office in Karachi. All additional IGs, DIGs, SSPs, and other senior officers assigned to provincial duties participated via video link.

In the meeting, the current law and order situation in Sindh was discussed, along with necessary instructions provided in this regard by IG Sindh. He emphasized the importance of taking strict departmental action against those found responsible and ensuring their presence during active duty hours.

Furthermore, he stressed that announcements/orders for the appointments of additional SHOs should also be made, similar to the announcements made for SHO appointments. Women police officers should be given important responsibilities at the departmental level, particularly in handling cases involving women and children.

Competent and educated police officers should be appointed as station duty officers, and those who have not completed the required training should be replaced immediately. Transparency in the utilization of funds and the maintenance of police stations should be ensured.

In the investigation department, appointments will be made based on performance, with a focus on strengthening the department and implementing practical action plans. Strict actions against offences reported by the branch will be taken, and SSPs and SHOs should ensure their presence in their offices from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The process of free FIR registration should be implemented effectively, without issuing show cause notices to area SHOs. Supervisory responsibilities should be clearly defined to ensure accountability in their absence.

The welfare of police officers and their families is a priority. Capable officers will be promoted one step up, based on merit. Regarding traffic management, a comprehensive proposal will be submitted to the Sindh government for approval, focusing on repair and maintenance of traffic signals and assigning responsibilities to the traffic police department.

Cameras should be installed at traffic signals, and armed police personnel should be deployed to ensure compliance with traffic rules and prevent crimes. Revenue generated from fines should be allocated for the maintenance of cameras, and strict disciplinary action will be taken against traffic police officers found involved in illegal activities.
