In Karachi, February has also become a paradise for criminals, with 7,164 incidents of robbery, murder, and looting reported. According to official figures released by the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee, Karachi witnessed a total of 7,164 incidents of murder, robbery, extortion, mobile phone snatching, motorcycle theft, and car theft. In the last month, there were 56 reported murder cases and 11 incidents of extortion. The police registered 1,989 cases of mobile phone snatching, with only 13 recoveries. Moreover, 4,221 motorcycles were stolen, and 916 were snatched during the month. Additionally, 33 cars were stolen by
force in Karachi, while 138 vehicles were stolen from various areas. Police operations resulted in the recovery of 29 vehicles. There were no incidents of kidnapping for ransom or bank robberies reported. According to a Karachi Police spokesperson, the police confronted dacoits at 88 locations, resulting in exchanges of gunfire and the deaths of 12 dacoits. During raids, 2,406 suspects were arrested, and 730 kilograms of drugs were seized. Various types of weapons and hand grenades were also confiscated. Additionally, 157 motorcycles and 12 cars were recovered from theft and snatching. Over the course of two months, there were 15,000 violations recorded by the Street Crime Unit. Furthermore, the police conducted 201 encounters, resulting in 21 deaths and the apprehension of over 200 injured suspects.
