In Karachi, daring robbers have escalated their activities, with daily incidents exceeding 250, including resorting to firing upon resistance. According to details, in Korangi, motorbike-borne dacoits displayed audacity during broad daylight by intercepting a factory's main gate, depriving the supervisor of cash. Similarly, in the industrial area of Korangi, as soon as a motorcycle entered the main gate of a factory, two dacoits riding another motorcycle, one wearing a helmet and the other in a shirt and pants, swiftly entered. One of the dacoits alighted from the motorbike, entered the factory gate, and seized the person handling money, leaving the security guards inside the factory startled. Meanwhile, the other dacoit left the second motorcycle and entered the factory armed with weapons to snatch money from a person in the bank. According to the police, the factory supervisor is complicit in the robberies carried out by the dacoits. The audacity of the dacoits and their fearless intrusion into the factory premises without any apprehension have raised several questions. On the other hand, in the limits of Landhi Police Station, an attempted robbery took place on Main Road No. 2, where armed dacoits attempted to loot a woman driver but resorted to firing upon resistance. As a result of the firing, only the woman sustained injuries from a bullet in her hand. Eyewitnesses revealed that the two armed culprits were riding motorcycles. After firing, they easily fled the scene. The injured woman was shifted to the hospital via ambulance. In a timely police operation, one of the dacoits who injured the woman during the robbery attempt was apprehended and found in possession of a weapon, a bag, stolen money, and a mobile phone. The arrested culprit was in the process of looting with his accomplice before being apprehended. The motorbike-riding police officers pursued the culprits, arresting one of them at a distance. However, the arrested culprit's accomplice managed to flee after firing at the police. The arrested suspect was transferred to the police station. Meanwhile, in the city, despite police actions based on daily operations, there has been no decrease in robbery incidents, and the city streets are not safe anymore. It is now easy to understand that Karachi, once known as the City of Lights, has become a hub for dacoits. It is noteworthy that during January 2024, there were over 8,000 reported incidents, including robberies, thefts, dacoities, murders, and kidnappings for ransom, while 50 civilians were also killed. According to the CPLC report, there were 2,305 reported incidents of mobile phone snatching in Karachi, out of which the police were only able to recover 28 mobile phones. Moreover, armed dacoits snatched 17 vehicles using force from the city's streets and alleys, while 163 vehicles were stolen. According to statistics, 863 motorcycles were snatched at gunpoint, while 4,454 motorcycles were reported stolen. The police were only able to recover 54 cars and 252 motorcycles.
