Karachi (Crime Reporter): Additional IG Karachi Khadim Hussain Rind stated that according to international standards, there should be one police officer for every 450 individuals, but in Karachi, there is one police officer for approximately 4,000 people. Addressing a ceremony under community policing, he emphasized the need for technology in policing, citing the example of Shanghai, where hundreds of thousands of cameras are installed. He mentioned progress in Karachi under community policing, including the use of technology for facial recognition and reading license plates. Rind highlighted ongoing efforts to install cameras at toll plazas and modernize police with new technology. He noted a significant data collection of around 600,000 suspected individuals through cameras. Rind mentioned ongoing installations of cameras at toll plazas across the province, aiming to enhance police efficiency. He stressed the importance of monitoring suspects using modern technology and highlighted the sacrifices made for the city's security, with 686 police officers, Rangers, and traffic personnel martyred in the past decade. Despite challenges, he praised the police's improved performance. He emphasized the absence of incidents like house robberies during stampedes and noted increasing arrests in street crime cases. Special attention is given to street crime, and efforts are underway to address the issue.
